Advanced is an exam for advanced users of English who can produce a high level of written and spoken English in most professional and social contexts.
C1 ADVANCED
Advanced is an exam for advanced users of English who can produce a high level of written and spoken English in most professional and social contexts. Advanced corresponds to Level C1 of the Common European Framework (CEFR).
At C1 level, candidates should be able to:
- Read sufficiently quickly so as to be able to follow an academic course in English.
- Understand complex opinions.
- Write clear, well-structured and detailed texts.
- Express themselves with a high level of fluency.
- Use English for a wide range of social, professional and academic purposes.
What are the components of Advanced?
The exam comprises four parts:
Reading and Use of English: 1 hour 30 minutes
You will need to be able to understand information in books of fiction and non-fiction, newspapers, magazines and this section will also test your use of English in tasks which highlight your control of grammar and vocabulary.
Writing: 1 hour 30 minutes
You will have to show that you can write two different texts: one obligatory text expressing your opinions and another text which may be a letter/email, a proposal, a report or a review.
Listening: approximately 40 minutes
You will have to show that you can understand the meaning of a series or spoken texts which may include conversations, dialogues y monologues, with a variety of accents.
Speaking: 15 minutes
You will do the speaking test together with another candidate or in a group of three people. It will assess your ability to take part in different types of interaction: with the examiner, with the other candidate and alone. You will need to express opinions and justify your decisions.
