How we teach Kids and Teens

We believe that it is important for our Kids and Teens to have a positive learning experience so that they are happy and enthusiastic about English and therefore interested in and willing to learn the language. At Idiomes Tarraco we offer classes to children aged four and upwards and sub-divide our Young Learner students into the following categories:

    • Early Learners – 4-7 yrs (E1-E3)
    • Kids – 8-10 yrs (Y1-Y3)
    • Pre-teens – 11-12 yrs (J1-J2)
    • Teens – 13-17 yrs (J3-J6)

All students use a coursebook as a basis for their learning and following a placement test students are placed into groups depending on their age and level of English. In our classes parents can expect the following:

E

Focus on Speaking, Pronunciation and Listening skills

Our Young Learner students are constantly exposed to natural native-level English in the classroom and are encouraged to participate as much as possible.

E

Focus on Grammar, Vocabulary and Cambridge English Exams -

Older children and teenagers will also develop a sound knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary in our classes and will have the opportunity to prepare for Cambridge English exams.

E

Discipline in the Classroom

We believe that children and teenagers will learn better in classrooms where there is order and respect for their classmates and the teacher. For that reason, each classroom has clear behaviour rules and our teachers receive specific training with respect to ensuring effective classroom management.

E

Dynamic classes

Learning should also be enjoyable and for that reason Idiomes Tarraco strives to provide a happy, enjoyable and dynamic environment for language-learning in order to achieve the best possible results. The physical and mental welfare of our Young Learners is important to us and the school has a clear Young Learner Welfare Policy.

E

Assessment of Learning and Feedback to Parents

Older Kids and Teens have mid-course and end-of-course Progress Tests and online reports for all students are made available to parents at the end of each term. Two Parents’ Evenings are held during the academic year for parents to discuss their child’s progress with the teacher.

E

Technology

Use of the latest technology in our classrooms helps to make classes more interactive, stimulating and relevant to our students.

E

Qualified Teachers

All of our English teachers hold a teaching qualification, usually the Cambridge CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) or Trinity TESOL Certificate and most have a university degree.

E

Continuing Professional Development

We provide professional development for teachers so that they learn new teaching techniques and keep improving their quality of service.
